The Game - genre, platform, and engine

I've been brainstorming what shape my game will take, I was bouncing between a 2D or 3D platformer or a top down rpg. I've decided I'm going to design a 2D platformer in Bolt, with the help of this plugin:

The Corgi Engine is highly customizable and comes with loads of premade assets and scripts, it looks like a great tool. I will use this and utilize their scripts, along with Bolt, to program my time management ideas into a game. Please see my previous post for some of the design ideas I've been thinking about including.

I haven't nailed down the specifics of the game yet but it will be familiar to 2D platformer players. I'm going to look at other 2D platformers for inspiration, like Super Mario World, Celeste, and maybe some action oriented ones like Metroid or Hollow Knight. Let me know if you have any ideas of games I should look at!

Hey Eli! glad you found a plugin you can use. Just wondering how will you incorporate your time management idea into the 2D platformer idea?

Hi Ayaan, that's something I'm still working out. In my last post I talked about concepts that I may use that I picked up from other games or though of myself. But it may be something simple, like picking up items to contribute to a long term goal, which I'd [show with an on-screen meter or something like that.

I was wondering if you were thinking of making your game both. For instance Super Paper Mario has 2D and 3D elements incorporated into the game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jmyq3jdFHBQ The corgi engine looks like a fantastic engine to work with

That would be cool but probably too ambitious for me for this project, but I will see what the corgi engine has available
